Mayfield Heights residents know and trust Gayle, who has lived in the city for more than four decades. She served a total of 16 years on City Council, including three consecutive terms and eight years as council president.

Gayle has consistently shown her passion for Mayfield Heights through decades of community work and volunteerism. In 2024, she chaired the campaign committee that helped the Mayfield City Schools pass a critical operating levy to stabilize district funding, strengthen safety and security at school facilities, and much more. The levy passed with 58 percent of the vote and earned approval in all 27 of the district’s precincts.

As Mayor, she will provide strong, decisive leadership and work with local government, residents, businesses, and key partners to set a vision for Mayfield Heights’ future.

Her accomplishments while on city council include:

• Obtaining privacy fencing for Aldenham residents by initiating talks with Progressive Insurance
• Securing a grant for sound walls and tree barriers on Interstate 271 by meeting with ODOT District 12, Ohio Department of Forestry, and Gov. Mike DeWine on behalf of Hidden Woods residents
• Chairing council’s safety committee, which recommended and oversaw the renovation of the police department; the purchasing of needed equipment; and the installation of security cameras at SOM Center and Mayfield roads.
• Advising city administration and developers regarding Mayland Shopping Center as part of the Mayfield Corridor plan
• Collaborating with fellow council members to create a nuisance ordinance to eliminate blighted properties.
